Got a few books???

Image The Book Project would like to help you find some good homes for them.

Executive Summary

The Book Project (TBP), is made of individuals who want to contribute to Ethiopia's development effort.  In particular, TBP wants to help improve some of the complex teaching challenges that universities face, especially the lack of teaching materials such as relevant textbooks.  To that end, TBP has been collecting books and computers from universities, libraries and private individuals.

Current situation of universities in Ethiopia

TBP has been in contact with administrators from several of these universities, who have identified the lack of relatively updated textbooks as one of the major hindrances to the teaching experience.  They believe the ability of such materials would greatly improve the impact their teaching will have on the students. Specifically, TBP is currently working with Professors in Bar Dhar, Administrators in Addis Abeba, as well as other volunteers to cultivate this vision and make it grow.

Strategy

TBP wants to be part of the effort to improve the education sector in Ethiopia, by providing textbooks that have been used in American universities no later than the past five years.  Over the past year, we have collected a number of text books and several computers ready to be shipped. As we continue our efforts to collect more books and computers, we ask for your assistance in shipping what we've accumulated thus far.

 Forward thinking

It is our hope that TBP will become a established NGO in the near future.  Until then we are adamant in continuing our efforts to collect textbooks and computers.  As we continue our efforts, we ask your assistance in shipping what we have accumulated thus far.

Conclusion

We have been provided with unimaginable opportunities in our lives; so let us do the same for our brothers and sisters in Ethiopia.

YAGForLife was established by YAGER LIJOTCH Mahaber – an Ethiopian association based in the metropolitan Washington D.C area. YAGForLife is dedicated to helping Ethiopia combat food shortages, AIDS, poverty, illiteracy and disease by engaging in the following types of activities:

  • Planning & holding fundraising events in support of our partner NGO, A Glimmer of Hope
  • Raising awareness amongst both Ethiopian and non-Ethiopians alike on particular areas of assistance that YAGForLife is focused on at any given time
  • Empowering others to be involved on a personal level, to focus on specific projects or areas and to keep them motivated by providing updates & feedback on the real differences that their philanthropy results in. Where possible, encouraging volunteerism that directly supports ongoing projects or other activities related to them.
  • Advocating a model of involvement that is based on long term visions to address the root causes of these problems by supporting development projects that help people help themselves

100% of donated funds go to the people and projects that need them!

YAGForLife is not a registered non-profit organization and does not solicit funds or other material resources for its own use. All funds raised through YAGForLife activities or advocacy are directly submitted to A Glimmer of Hope and are tax deductible as per that organizations 501(c)(3) status.
